The happiness program
In pursue of the age old question on happiness, I was sent to a happiness kriya yoga program by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. I know I know...we have all tried some of the following... the car, attention, looks, partners, cards, cash...
The result of which we are often in fear... fear of not getting enough or losing what we have. Sometimes we mistake troubling attachments for love or obsess about the future... If you're sold on that idea, join the club of mass delusion.
But if there is a tiny shred of your true self within peeping through the armour.. on full moon nights when shadows loom larger... let me suggest an alternative. Be warned that this alternative might snatch all that you have been clinging to for dear life and laugh at the folly of it all.
Contemplate daily on your death. Just try it. Visualise yourself lying on your death bed everyday. What truly matters? Have you truly lived fearlessly? Yes you. If you have ever met you... then contemplate on the similarities of everyone and everything instead of differences. The same universal truths connects us all. In life and in death.
Perhaps the freedom from delusions is, afterall, happiness in disguise. And I shall start by letting go of the fear of the concepts of unhappiness or happiness. Thank you sri sri! Namaste!
